As you may be aware, the Department of Home Affairs and the AFP had a meeting of the 24th and 25th of July. The Department of Home Affairs representative outlined the following results from the meeting.

  • The legality around Gel Blasters has not changed and they are still legal to import with the correct permit (B709A)
  • Internal Gel Blaster parts that are interchangeable with, or could be modified for, Airsoft ARE prohibited and will now be seized at the border as Airsoft parts
  • Retailers will need to contact Australian Border Force for any to discuss any seized items
  • The AFP and Department of Home Affairs are continuing to investigate the legality of Gel Blasters.

This has resulted in at least 4 retailers having parts imports seized that we are aware of so far.

Considering these changes, and the risk this has placed on the sport, the Gel Blaster Association is inviting you to a group meeting for retailers and players for a discussion on the issue and to compile a list of key questions to discuss with QPS.

The Agenda will be,

  • Introduction
  • Issue update
  • End Goal
  • Legal options
  • What can the Association do?
  • How can the retailers help?
  • How can the community help?
  • Next Steps

Onsite parking is available.
